1. Add text
Open the browser version. Paste text or open a local UTF-8 TXT, CSV or JSON file. You do not need an account.
Select a detection profile and the categories to find. Then select “Find personal details”. The search runs in your browser and sends nothing to a server.
2. Review the suggestions
SYNTHETIC EXAMPLE ONLY: Test Person Cedar · pii-canary@example.com. Local rules find the email. They can miss the name if it has no label, such as “Name:”.
Remove false matches. Select a missed passage in the source text and add a manual replacement. Then confirm that you reviewed the text.
3. Use the result
Select “Replace selected passages”. Each value gets a placeholder, such as <PII_…_EMAIL_1>. The replacement map stays in the memory of this tab.
Copy the text with replacements or save the file. Keep the placeholders unchanged if you want to restore a reply.
Text with placeholders is not anonymous. Missed details and context can still identify a person.
4. Restore and clear
Paste the reply with placeholders and select “Restore reply”. The original values return only in this tab.
By default, the app erases the map after a successful restore. Reload the page, close the tab or select “Clear everything” to remove all working data. Copies and downloaded files stay under your control.
