Reversible replacement keeps a restore path
A placeholder stands in for a selected value. The replacement map in this tab can restore the value in a reply. This is reversible pseudonymization, not anonymous data.
SYNTHETIC EXAMPLE ONLY: the email pii-canary@example.com can become <PII_…_EMAIL_1>. The rest of the sentence can still contain identifying clues.
When the result becomes permanent
If you clear the map and do not keep a recovery file, no one can restore the values from the text. The placeholders stay in the text.
The browser version has no separate permanent redaction mode. Do not only cover text visually if the original stays under it.
Clearing the map does not erase every clue
Clearing the map ends restore in this tab. It does not remove context, missed values, saved recovery files, downloaded files or copies in other services.
Choose the result that you need and review its limits. Use of a tool does not make you compliant with any law.
